BlueCHP Supports Community Made and Stronger Housing Future for NSW

6 Aug 2026

BlueCHP is proud to support Community Made, a statewide campaign calling for greater investment in community housing and a stronger housing future for people and families across New South Wales.

Led by Community Housing Industry Association NSW (CHIA NSW), Community Made brings together residents, community housing providers, and sector experts. Together, they are advocating for the long-term investment needed to help address NSW’s housing crisis.

Almost 70,000 households are currently on the NSW social housing waitlist. Meanwhile new polling shows strong community support for greater investment in community housing.

In fact, the Essential Poll released at the campaign launch found 67 per cent of NSW respondents support increased government investment in community housing.

Campaign launch

The Community Made campaign officially launched at NSW Parliament on Wednesday 5 August. The event brought together community housing residents, government representatives, and leaders from across the community housing sector.

NSW Housing and Homelessness Minister Rose Jackson joined CHIA NSW and sector representatives for the launch. During the event, residents shared firsthand accounts of the difference a safe and secure home has made in their lives.

Among those sharing their stories were Jayme, Tyrone, and Lynne. Their experiences highlighted how stable housing can create pathways to employment, education, wellbeing, and greater connection with community.

Importantly, the launch gave residents an opportunity to speak directly to political and sector leaders about their experiences. They also highlighted the importance of ensuring more people across NSW have access to a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home.

With the NSW election ahead, the event marked an important moment for the community housing sector. It brought the sector together, while elevating the voices and experiences of the people at the heart of the campaign.

The role of community housing

At BlueCHP, we believe safe, secure, and affordable housing provides more than a place to live. It can create greater stability and opportunity for people and families. In turn, this can contribute to stronger, more connected communities.

As a not-for-profit community housing provider, BlueCHP supports the call for sustained investment. This investment will enable the sector to increase the supply of social and affordable housing and respond to growing housing need.

BlueCHP CEO, Charles Northcote, said Community Made highlights both the scale of the challenge and the opportunity to harness the capability of the community housing sector.

“I’m very proud to support the Community Made campaign. As Chair of CHIA NSW, I know the sector is focused on securing long-term funding solutions to address decades of underinvestment in social housing. We need a comprehensive and sustainable approach to investment in NSW, similar to the commitment we’ve seen in Queensland.”

A blueprint for more homes and stronger communities

Community Made is calling on the next NSW Government to take action across three key priorities:

  • Invest in a $26 billion Community Housing Enabling Fund to deliver 50,000 community homes by 2050.
  • Create a $4 billion Better Social Homes Program to bring NSW social housing up to a modern standard by 2040.
  • Establish an indexed Housed and Healthy Fund of at least $200 million per year so more social housing residents can access critical support services.

Together, the proposals aim to increase the supply of community housing and improve existing social housing. They also aim to ensure residents can access the support they need to build stable lives and sustain their tenancies.

BlueCHP is pleased to stand alongside the community housing sector in supporting Community Made. Ultimately, the campaign aims to help end the state housing crisis in a generation.
