BlueCHP was delighted to welcome the Hon Clare O’Neil MP, Minister for Housing and Homelessness and Mr Jerome Laxale MP to celebrate the opening of Pinaroo Apartments in Sydney’s Lane Cove North. Also in attendance were Sophie and Bernard (“Paddy”), two soon-to-be residents in the new specialist disability accommodation (SDA) homes, who were able to share their stories and tour their new homes.
This mixed-tenure development comprises 30 apartments, including six SDA apartments, one dedicated overnight support worker accommodation, nine social dwellings, and 14 market apartments. Residents will enjoy living in a vibrant and connected community setting, with easy-to-access public transport within 9 minutes of Chatswood CBD.
“It was great to have Sophie and Paddy attend and visit their future homes. We were proud to host a meeting with the minister where they could share their stories. Most of our SDA residents have had complex multi-year journeys to find an SDA home to suit their needs. It was touching to see the minister arrive with an unexpected housewarming gift for both residents to celebrate the occasion. We all felt the joy of the moment; this was a day when we could all come together and celebrate the real human outcome of our efforts – delivering safe and secure homes. We are so excited for Sophie, Paddy and our other residents to move in,” Michelle Northcote, BlueCHP Limited, National Manager – Disability Housing.
Housing Australia CEO, Scott Langford said, “It is always uplifting to witness a project come to life, ready for those who need it most within our community. With great enthusiasm I will be focused on working with our various stakeholders to propel projects forward through the funding required to improve housing outcomes for more Australians.”
Housing Australia provided $21.9 million Affordable Housing Bond Aggregator (AHBA) loan, along with support from Homes NSW and For Purpose Investment Partners to support construction, which begun in 2022. Construction of Pinaroo Apartments has been completed by Mono Constructions, beginning in 2022 and completed September 2024.
Attendees included Hon Clare O’Neil MP Minister for Housing and Homelessness, Mr Jerome Laxale MP, Scott Langford (CEO, Housing Australia), Tim Shaw (Executive Director – For Purpose Investment Partners), Naveen Chandra (Executive Director, Homes NSW), Charles Northcote (CEO, BlueCHP), Michelle Northcote (National Manager – Disability Housing, BlueCHP), Mark Degotardi (CEO, Community Housing Industry Association NSW) and Lyall Gorman (CEO, Evolve Housing).
BlueCHP Limited CEO, Charles Northcote said, “We are so pleased to deliver this distinguished example of mixed-tenure housing to Sydney residents. This high-quality development features exceptional aesthetics and will bring inclusive living to the community”.
