BlueCHP has officially broken ground on 10 new social homes in Yarrabilba, marking a significant step forward in addressing housing demand across South-East Queensland.

To mark the milestone, BlueCHP held a groundbreaking ceremony on 31 March 2026, bringing together key partners and stakeholders. It was attended by the Hon. Delivering homes for Queenslanders in need

The Yarrabilba project will deliver a mix of one- and three-bedroom homes. These homes are carefully designed to support seniors, families, and people living with disabilities. As a result, the project provides safe, secure, and accessible housing options for those on the housing register.

The project is funded through the Queensland Government’s QuickStarts Program. Through this program, the development will help fast-track social housing supply across the state.

BlueCHP has secured multiple sites within the Yarrabilba Priority Development Area (PDA). Together, these 10 homes represent the first stage of a wider delivery pipeline in the region.

“In partnership with the Queensland Government and Stockland, BlueCHP is pleased to commence this project, delivering a further 10 homes over the next year. BlueCHP continues to work with the State to deliver on its housing target of 53,500 new community homes”.

A growing community with long-term impact

Located within Logan City, approximately 20 kilometres south of Logan Central, Yarrabilba is one of South-East Queensland’s most significant growth corridors.

When complete, the master-planned community is expected to deliver up to 20,000 homes. In total, it will support a population of around 50,000 people over the next 20 to 30 years.

Importantly, this project directly supports the Queensland State Government’s social housing targets within the development. At the same time, it contributes to a more inclusive and balanced community.

“We’re partnering with BlueCHP to deliver these one and three-bedroom homes for seniors, families and people living with disability on the housing register. For too long, housing supply across our state hadn’t kept pace with demand. But after an average of just 509 social homes getting built each year over the last decade, we’ve now got work underway on almost 6,200 social and community homes.”

Strong partnerships driving delivery

The project is being delivered in collaboration with trusted industry partners, including: Stockland (Master Developer); idearchitecture (Architect); and GJ Gardner Homes (Builder).

The event included a site tour and project briefing. It then concluded with the official groundbreaking, marking the start of construction.

Building momentum in social housing delivery

The Yarrabilba development contributes to a growing pipeline of social and affordable housing projects that BlueCHP is actively delivering across Queensland.

As demand for housing continues to rise, initiatives like this play a critical role. They help ensure more individuals and families can access stable, long-term accommodation within well-connected, master-planned communities.
