For those who missed it, the Treasurer, Scott Morrison, gave BlueCHP a plug on a recent visit to western Sydney.
The Treasurer, was in western Sydney to promote the government’s Western Sydney City Deal, and was talking about the importance of affordable housing.
The Treasurer said, “BlueCHP are developing affordable accommodation right here, right here in Western Sydney with just a short walk to the train station. That is the sort of new housing that we need across the country, but particularly here in Western Sydney, to ensure that people can get access to more affordable housing.”
The Treasurer went on to say; “And it’s also about the mix of housing too. I mentioned the BlueCHP development just across the line here, we’re almost up to 50 per cent of that development is for affordable housing.”
The Treasurer was talking about BlueCHP’s Macarthur Gardens development, which will provide affordable housing for key workers, such as nurses, police officers and teachers.
The development consists of 101 units, half of which are made available at below market rates. Macarthur Gardens is being built with Cross Laminated Timber, the first time this sustainable product has been used for medium density residential development in NSW.
Macarthur Gardens will be completed by October 2017.
